Is this tour for you?
Vague difficulty grading is how riders end up in trouble on day two. Be honest with yourself here — it's what makes the group work for everyone, including you.
Easy
Comfortable on gravel forest roads and wide dirt tracks. No technical experience required beyond a valid licence.
Can you —
- Ride a loaded bike on hard-packed gravel without putting a foot down constantly
- Handle mild washboard and shallow ruts at touring speed
Moderate
Has ridden offroad before and is comfortable off the seat for short stretches.
Can you —
- Pick your own bike back up, solo, without help
- Ride 1–2 hours standing before your legs give out
- Handle loose gravel descents at moderate speed without target-fixating
Challenging
Rides technical terrain regularly and is confident on exposed tracks.
Can you —
- Ride 3+ hours standing across a mixed day
- Descend loose rock and mule tracks with a drop-off on one side without dabbing every few metres
- Recover from a stall on a steep loose climb without assistance
Expert
Comfortable at the limit of the bike and the terrain, all day, for multiple days back to back.
Can you —
- Ride technical singletrack and rock steps at pace, standing, for a full day
- Self-recover from most drops and stalls on steep, loose, or off-camber terrain
- Sustain the pace on day three of a multi-day tour, not just day one
Each tour's page lists its grade. If you're between two levels, get in touch before booking — a five-minute conversation is cheaper than finding out on a mountainside.
